The Tiftarea House of Hope

RollingOn has partnered with the Tiftarea House of Hope to get 50 rolling suitcases filled with foot health items in the hands of families experiencing rural homelessness. The Tiftarea House of Hope serves women and children experiencing homelessness and is located in rural Tift County, GA. To learn more about the Tiftarea House of Hope and its mission, please visit the organization's website at www.tiftareahouseofhope.org. Like most of rural Georgia, Tift County struggles with low annual household incomes and high rates of poverty, especially in children. While the average annual income per capita for the United States is approximately $31,000, that same figure for Tift County is only around $18,000. Also, it has an exceptionally high poverty rate for children, with 1 out of every 3 children in Tift County living in poverty. Although I had to drive more than three hours south of Atlanta to deliver the rolling suitcases that we collected, I chose to partner with the Tiftarea House of Hope as I believe RollingOn will have the greatest impact on rural homelessness and truly change lives in a place like Tift County. Trish from the Tiftarea House of Hope said that "women who enter the shelter almost always come with garbage bags, as people experiencing homelessness often do not have the time to worry about how they will secure their possessions. This is especially true in cases of domestic violence, when the women need to leave their unsafe homes as quickly as possible." At RollingOn, we are always glad to help. A huge thank you to our donors and to the Tiftarea House of Hope for helping RollingOn change the lives of 50 women and children experiencing homelessness!
